How do you define productivity?

What if tomorrow were “that” much more productive? Well, then, you wouldn’t need more time. You might not need more money. You definitely wouldn’t need to work harder. But, we both know that productive doesn’t just happen… Or does it?   Recently, I heard a speaker from the stage talk about productivity and time management.

Successful people…

…they complete what they start. So, here on the Pacific side of the United States of America, it's just about 5pm. For quite a few of you, it means you may be heading in to a weekend to do other things than what you might do during the week. Have you taken some time this

It was August of 2000 that I took up a new career as the 4th employee of the newly formed David Allen Company. With David’s book Getting Things Done to be published in January 2001, I got ready for a life of trains, planes and automobiles. Subsequently, I departed from the public high school classroom,

FBR – Persuasive Presentations, by Nancy Duarte

While attending the TEDx workshop day last February, I met Scott, from Duarte Design, after he'd facilitated a workshop on “effective presentations.” Standing in line to say “thanks,” I wasn't sure if he would have enough…but I did wind up getting a copy of Nancy Duarte's book, “HBR Guide to Persuasive Presentations.“ Right away, I

Is There A Place For Gratitude In Business?

The other day I received a comment from someone who has been reading my book Your Best Just Got Better. Why lie? The truth comes out faster now?

On a stage, here at #SXSW (South by Southwest) I watched an interview unfold in a weird way. The interviewEE is a professional sports celebrity, the interviewER a nervous woman on the stage. The questions were topical, “How are you? Where did you fly in from?” He (the sports guy being interviewed) was gracious, and

Many leadership experts talk frequently about how to motivate other people and when you think about it that way it becomes apparent that leaders are concerned with motivation. However, the purpose of this post is to get

What is your “Next”?

Does this look, sound or feel familiar? finally…fall asleep suddenly…wake up routinely…go to work eventually…return home thankfully…shut the door consistently…wonder, “Is this it?”   Ask 5 people this question, “Why do what you do?” Look, it’s March…2013. The days are about to get longer, the weather a little warmer, and change is just around the

Picture Your Ideal Day

As 2013 marches forward, do you find yourself making another to-do list? Or are you spending time “getting organized”? Or are you buying a new app or tool to “make things easier”? Do you need to attend or call yet “another” meeting? You are not alone. These are ways people typically “manage” their time. But
