Get. Out.
If there were some rules to success, when would YOU want to know? Me…I’m the kind of guy that wish I’d been told all these secrets a long time ago. Here’s a secret I was gifted many years ago:
Go, be an observer. Yeah, really, check out this this crazy-awesome world we live in. Watch people. Read a magazine. See something from a new angle. Here are 4 places I’ll go this week to “change my mind.”
The Apple Store: I’m visiting “the big city” (working in San Francisco/Marin/Berkeley this week). I know I’ll get at least one visit in to the Apple store. More than JUST the technology, one of the things I do is eavesdrop on people talking; what are the excited/complaining/complacent about? If I can find THAT out, I get insight into where the technology is going.
A Family Owned Restaurant: Totally different than going to a national chain…
Somewhere where my bare feet can stand on the earth: Once a week, it’s my goal!
A room in a house I’ve not spent 30 minutes in, in a long, long time: This one’s easy; I’m visiting family this week, so I get to sleep and do a little work in “a new room.” I know I always see things differently, when I’m in a different space.
In the comment area below, would you share a place YOU go to, to gain a new perspective?
I like to go to Saltwater State Park in Des Moines, WA. I sit at one of the picnic tables on the beach and write in my journal. It is an excellent way to get a new viewpoint on things. Although the spot is the same the view is always changing. “The same but different”
